Meade UWA

Meade 14mm Ultra Wide Angle and Meade 8.8 Ultra Wide Angle..

Meade 14mm UWA.  It only took one night with the Meade 14 UWA to get my 13 Nagler on the sales block. Although both the Meade 14 UWA and the 13 Nagler are both excellent eyepieces, the Meade was sharper to the edge of the field and with a LOT less kidney bean distortion. I have added a 13mm Type 6 Nagler to my collection, and although much lighter and easier to handle, the 14UWA is still the class of the field. The 13T6 is great for smaller scopes where balance is a big issue. .

The Meade 8.8 UWA is another very fine eyepiece.  Sharp to the edge of the field with excellent contrast. Works great in both the refractors and the Dob.  I t compares very favorably with the TV 9 Nagler.

The biggest issue with these eyepieces is their size and weight. The TV Type 6 Naglers are considerably lighter and easier to balance smaller scopes with.

If you get a chance to check one of these out then do so.....you will be impressed.

NOTE:  These are the series 4000 UWA eyepieces. They have recently been discontinued, but can often be found on the secondary market are very reasonable prices. I have never tried any of the newer series 5000 Meade UW eyepieces and can not offer any input as to how they would compare.
