Super Polaris Adjustments |
||
After the hex nut is removed you will see a threaded collar. This collar is threaded into the body of the mount. To remove lateral "slop" from the axis, Tighten this collar by turning it in a clockwise direction while gently rocking the RA (or dec) axis back and forth. DO NOT over tighten this collar. When you have tightened the collar to the point where the shaft is NOT binding when turned by hand, and the lateral play in the axis has been removed, replace the hex nut and tighten it. When you tighten the hex nut, you may notice that you have changed the pressure on the collar. If it is too tight or too loose, simply remove the hex nut and re-adjust the collar until the lateral play has been removed. This is another one of those "trial and error" steps, so just be patient until you have it correctly adjusted.
